Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler are leaving us all in tears after their latest performance together.
Since the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history just a week ago celebrities everywhere have been honoring lives lost and forever changed. The shooing left 59 dead and more than 500 injured at Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday.
“Miley Week” on The Tonight Show kicked off this week, but on a much different tone than expected. It was right after the shooting and Miley Cyrus’ weeklong residency on the late-night show started with a tribute and honor to those forever changed by the shooting.
The host of the show is longtime favorite, Jimmy Fallon. He opened up the show with some statements about the horrifyng shooting just moments before Cyrus took stage.
“This morning we woke up to the news of another senseless shooting — this time in Las Vegas,” Fallon said. “In the face of tragedies and acts of terror, we need to remember that good still exists in this world. We’re here to entertain you tonight and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Famous Hollywood actor, Adam Sandler helped Miley performed Dido’s 2013 single, “No Freedom.” Miley continued to take over the show explaining why she had chosen to sing that specific song for the opening of the show.
It was a heartbreaking and emotional moment for people all across America. This is something that will never be forgotten, and it has stained the hearts of many.
The shooting happened in a place where people go to escape life, if for a moment. A concert. It has been heartbreaking to watch it unfold.
“There is no love without freedom, and I think about that when these tragic events happen,” the Younger Now performer said. “What is music if we can’t go see our favorite artists perform because we’re scared of violence or we’re scared of losing someone that we love…. We’re supposed to be the land of the free but we can’t have freedom if we’re constantly living in fear.”
After the show, Miley posted on her Instagram to further share her condolences.
I’m in tears…
