UFC star was just hit by a train in his truck, prayers for recovery! This is terrifying.
TMZ Sports reported the bad news sharing that UFC Hall of Famer, Matt Hughes, has been very badly injured after a horrifying crash. Law enforcement says that he was driving in Illinois on Friday when a truck he was in collided with a moving train.
According to Illinois State Police, Hughes, 43, drove a pickup truck across a railroad grade crossing “directly in front of a train and the train struck the passenger side of the truck” at 10:43 a.m.
Reports shared that 1 person was immediately transported by helicopter to a hospital with serious injuries. Dana White later released a statement saying that the injured person was Matt Hughes.
White said that Hughes has suffered major head trauma and that his family left immediately to go be with him in the hospital. As of now, the crash is still under investigation and no one is quite sure what caused the collision.
“Apparently he has head trauma,” White said. “His family is traveling to him now.”
The hospital where he is being treated released a statement saying that their trauma team has”stabilized him and continues to help him in his recovery.” As of now, there is no specific recovery time and everyone is just glad that he is still alive.
They also shared that the family is asking for privacy during this traumatizing time, urging fans to pray for Matt.
“Hughes’ family asks that you respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the hospital’s statement, released Friday night, said. “They ask that you keep Matt in your thoughts and prayers.”
