Shannen Doherty shares about her ending cancer battle and it has us all in tears.
It was back in August 2016 when Shannen Doherty shared with all of her fans that her cancer had spread. She was in an interview with ET and the 45-year-old star opened up about the cancer spreading to her lymph nodes, which was very scary.
She went on to say that she was going to be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
“I had breast cancer that spread to the lymph nodes, and from one of my surgeries we discovered that some of the cancer cells might have actually gone out of the lymph nodes,” Doherty tells ET’s Jennifer Peros. “So for that reason, we are doing chemo, and then after chemo, I’ll do radiation.”
After Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer she had to have a single mastectomy in May. Although this seems like it could be the hardest part about the battle, she shared that it wasn’t the pain – but it was the thought of leaving the ones that she loved behind.
“The unknown is always the scariest part,” she shares. “Is the chemo going to work? Is the radiation going to work? You know, am I going to have to go through this again, or am I going to get secondary cancer? Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it’s the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people that you love.”
Doherty has been keeping us all updated with her battle, and she finally posted the news that we’ve all been waiting to hear! Shannen’s latest post has us all in tears as she is completely finished with radiation and likes to think of herself as a cancer slayer!
This woman has been such an inspiration to so many battling cancer of all kinds and it is amazing to see it all come to an end. Shannen has continued to show such grace and strength during this nightmare of a battle and all of her endurance has paid off!
Check out her latest update in the post below. Shannen posted a picture with some doctors and radiation machine saying that she hopes she never has to see them again. (In a good way of course)! I’m in tears!
Thank you Vantage Oncology and Dr Leslie Botnick. Thank you to all that work there, especially Anna,Vince, Mike (pictured here) and Jackie. And a big thank you to Maggie. Everyday you rotated around me, I knew you were zapping the last of those pesky micro cells lingering behind. Here's hoping I never see you again sweet Maggie!!! #lovethiscrew #cancerslayer
