Glen Campbell’s family just released an emotional announcement. Prayers during this difficult time…
Glen Campbell has been battling Alzheimer’s for about 6 years now and it has been heartbreaking to watch. Although Campbell is still alive, he is in the final stages and things aren’t looking so good for him.
His family has done an incredible job of keeping all of his fans updated on his health, but their latest update has us all in tears. Cambell’s wife, Kim, and his daughter Ashley recently sat down with PEOPLE to share about his condition and it was so heartbreaking.
Although the disease has taken away many parts of Cambell’s life, his daughter says that it hasn’t taken away the song in his heart. She shared that music is the one thing that has been very comforting to Glen during this confusing time.
She said they don’t know what he’s singing but that it is beautiful to watch it.
“Sometimes he’ll just close his eyes and kind of smile and start singing along, even though we don’t know what he’s singing along to, but he’s got a song in his heart and it’s really beautiful to see that,” Ashley explains to People.
This is why we are so excited to hear Campbell’s final album “Adios”. Back in 2012, after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s he recorded a final album to be released after his disease had progressed to it’s final stages.
Kim says that they “laughed continually throughout the process – mostly because Campbell was able to laugh at himself.” I can’t wait to hear it.
“It’s kind of a recorded version of him and his love for music even after Alzheimer’s,” Ashley added. “It didn’t take his voice or his soul in the music, and so that’s what you hear on his record.”
This is such a bittersweet time for this family. Please keep them in your prayers…
