Grammy Award winner and star studded county star shares devastating news with fans, please pray for this family.
Sturgill Simpson is a 38 year old iconic country star who has had a career in music for over 13 years now. As of now the country star has released three solo albums and has won a Grammy Award for “Best Country Album” his his album “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth”.
Although he has had a lot of exciting moments in 2017 they haven’t all been glamourous. The country star announced that his grandfather Lawrence “Dood” Fraley has passed away.
He posted on his Facebook page stating that his grandfather passed away peacefully, on Wednesday (March 15). Sturgill had an incredible connection with his grandfather and looked up to him more than anyone else in life.
“He was without a single doubt the greatest man and finest human being I will ever know in my time here on this Earth,” Simpson wrote in a Facebook post. “There will never, ever be another like him.”
Although you may not know Fraley by name, you probably can remember his incredible voice. He actually opened Simpson’s 2014 album “Metamodern Sounds in Country Music” right before the opening track started to play.
Simpson went on to say that his grandfather was who taught him to love and play country music. If it wasn’t for him Strugill wouldn’t be where he is today, and he is absolutely crushed to see his grandfather go.
“My Papaw taught me to play country music and more importantly, he taught me to love country music,” Simpson continued. “Above all else that has happened in my life and career in the last four years, nothing comes close to knowing that he lived long enough to see it.”
The heartbroken country icon shared that although he has seen many victories in life, nothing compares to the fact that his grandfather was there to witness all of it. He wanted to make him proud, and we are all sure that he did just that.
Please say a prayer for Sturgill and his family in the comments below, this can’t be easy….
“Goodbye old man…
You will be forever missed by all who knew you.”
