Legendary singer was just forced into retirement years before planned after receiving terrifying reports from the doctor.
Every artist or person in the world has their own idea of when and what their retirement will entail. Unfortunately, for Neil Diamond things didn’t go as he’d hoped they would.
The legendary artist and singer was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and is being forced to retire from singing. He had many concert dates set for Australia and New Zealand in March and April.
It was all part of his 50th anniversary tour, but it has also been cancelled due to the devastating diagnosis. The singer released the news on his website sharing his hurt with all of his fans.
He was disappointed to announce the retirement from concert touring, but shared that he was so honored to have been in the business for over five decades.
“It is with great reluctance and disappointment that I announce my retirement from concert touring,” Mr. Diamond said in a statement on his website. “I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years.”
Neil is going to be 77 years old this year, and although he has to retire from touring he shared that he plans on still writing music. Diamond was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 and will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Grammys.
Although he is having to retire earlier than planned, he is still leaving a legacy behind him. He was one of the greatest in the industry and he will truly never be forgotten. That is for sure.
This is a heartbreaking time for both Neil and all of his loved ones. Please keep them in your prayers during this
So so sad. Prayers for a miracle!
