Chris Stapleton just shared an announcement that has every fan in tears. RIP, you will be missed.
Country star Chris Stapleton has become one of the most beloved country artists over the past few years. From the moment he stepped foot on stage his fame grew like a wildfire.
Since then he has remained an asset and an inspiration to country music altogether. Fans haver really grown to love and respect Chris not only as an artist but as a person as well.
That’s why it was extra emotional to see him upset about the death of legend Tom Petty. Petty died just hours after the mass shooting at a country music festival that took 59 lives.
Of course that added to the emotions but at Stapleton’s latest concert he shared something else. He and Petty actually performed together earlier this year!
Not many knew about it, but the tow of them were buds. The last thing that Petty ever told Chris was that he hoped they would get the opportunity to play again together.
It was heartbreaking to realize that the two of them would actually never have that opportunity again. Stapleton thought that their paths may cross again someday, but it looks like that someday is only going to be when he is in heaven with Petty.
“I couldn’t believe he was gone…I had the opportunity to play with Tom Petty earlier this year,” Stapleton says to the audience, strumming his guitar softly. “And the last thing he said to me was, ‘I hope we get an opportunity to do this again.’ And I left there thinking that we might. And I sure am sad that I won’t get to.”
It has been a pretty rough week for the music world. Praying for all involved and affected by all of these losses.
