Kenny Rogers family just shared news that has us all in tears. Farewell Kenny, we love you.
Kenny Rogers is one of country music’s greatest stars which is why we are all heartbroken to see him retire. Although he is retired it hasn’t stopped him from still being one of the greatest artists to live.
The country legend was honored Sunday night (Nov. 5) by SESAC during its Nashville Music Awards ceremonies, leaving us all in tears. It was a very emotional moment held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Unfortunately, Rogers didn’t sing at all and only spoke a little bit. Of course everyone was just honored to be in his presence.
Kenny accepted the SESAC’s Legacy Award for his “immeasurable contributions to the world of entertainment.” Rogers continued to say that he might still write some songs even though he is retired.
He definitely won’t be performing but songwriting is something that he knows will always be with him.
“I might write a little music,” he said modestly, “but I make it a point not to write hits. I think my gift to the business has been the ability to spot a great song.”
Rogers has decided that it is time for him to fully retire and spend time with his family. While out touring and recording he’s never been able to spend a ton of time with his family so this is the perfect opportunity for that.
This man has been in the country music industry for years, and has left a legacy. It will be so sad to never see him perform again.
Although it is emotional, it is extremely exciting for him. Congratulations to Rogers and his family! Not only for this award, but for the impact that he has made on all of country music.
We love you Kenny!!
