It’s country music and of course we’ve seen line dances, but we haven’t seen anything quite like this one.
Laura Bell Bundy is a country cutie and a Kentucky native. It wasn’t until 2013 that we really saw her come out of her shell and that’s when she released her song “Kentucky Dirty” as a tribute to her home state.
Bundy grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and took dancing lessons in the nearby town of Paris at their “Town and Village School of Dance.” Not long after that she landed her first Broadway role playing Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray. She was 21 at the time she got the part in hairspray and just a couple of years after that she experimented with country music releasing a single “Giddy On Up”.
The music video for her home state was directed by Bundy herself and she even brought on the University of Kentucky’s dance team to help her out. The dancers and Bundy were dancing out in a field getting a little “Kentucky Dirty” and boy was it steamy.
The beginning of the video Bundy rides out to the field on her horse and there is a little party going on. All of the dancers are lined up ready to steal the show with Bundy and the video goes back and forth from that shot to a shot of Bundy dressed like she’s from the 1920’s singing the same song.
Bundy is most known for her work on Broadway taking on roles such as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde Musical but is loved for her country music twang too! In fact, her song “Kentucky Dirty,” was featured in the Kentucky Wildcat Basketball documentary titled “The Sixth Man.”

“Takin’ our dance out of this city
Where the girls are fast and the horses pretty
Gonna get wild and a little bit flirty
Everybody get Kentucky dirty”
