Famous Hollywood television star just died after a long battle with cancer. Prayers for the family.
He is known as the star in 1960s Batman TV show, Adam West, has passed away at age 88. According to a statement that his family released West died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”
West’s career all started after he appeared as a different kind of caped crusader in a series of commercials for Nestle’s Quik. That’s when Batman show’s producer noticed him and after that the rest was history.
This man didn’t just play a part to get money in the bank, but he truly became the character he was supposed to portray. He put his heart and soul into everything that he did and that’s something that we admire most about him.
“You can’t play Batman in a serious, square-jawed, straight-ahead way without giving the audience the sense that there’s something behind that mask waiting to get out, that he’s a little crazed, he’s strange,” West later told the Archive of American Television.
After his big break on the Batman series West had trouble finding work on the screen. He was picked for random appearances on some shows, but he never got another lead role like he had in Batman.
He eventually found a job as the voice of the mayor on Family Guy.
“The only thing I thought is that it would be the end of me, and it was for a bit,” he said during an appearance at Comic-Con in 2014, where he discussed the end of Batman. “But then I realized that what we created in the show. . . we created this zany, lovable world.
West was one of the greats and he always had a positive outlook on life. He had a talent that people would die for and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Please keep this family in your prayers during this time of loss.
RIP ADAM WEST.
