Television star is in the hospital after falling 20 feet. Prayers…
A stuntman on AMC’s The Walking Dead, John Bernecker, is in the hospital. Apparently, he fell 20 feet onto a concrete floor on the show’s Georgia set.
The fall has caused some serious head injuries for the stuntman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he was rushed to Atlanta Medical Center.
Thankfully, Atlanta Medical Center is a level 1 trauma center. He is being treated in the intensive care unit as of now.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the hospital declined to comment on his condition. His girlfriend is not afraid to share details, though. This is scary.
Unfortunately, according to her latest Facebook post John is not doing well at all right now. By the sound of it, he is doing very bad. He may not make it if they can’t figure out a way to help him right away.
“John deserves to be seen by every neorusurgeon and doctor there is until one of them sees the life we all know he has in him and bring him back to us… THIS ISNT FAIR.”
A spokesperson for SAG-AFTRA, which represents stunt performers and coordinators, regretfully, shared statement. Apparently, they are investigating the situation now, and hope to find out how the stunt went wrong.
Therefore, they are sending their prayers and thoughts to John and his entire family during this heartbreaking time.
“We have been informed of a serious injury to a SAG-AFTRA member on the set of The Walking Dead and are investigating the situation. As always, the safety and security of our members and others on set is of crucial concern to us. We are focused on this in our investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the performer and his family.”
He has 105 credits since 2009, with recent work on 24: Legacy, Get Out,The Fate of the Furious and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. He has performed many stunts like the one he was performing for The Walking Dead.
This is a tragic event and we hope that he will a full recovery, regardless. My heart is breaking for this family right now.
