TV star is now dead after a terrifying and tragic accident. Prayers for the family.
A stuntman on AMC’s The Walking Dead, John Bernecker, was sent to the hospital yesterday. He is now dead after falling off of a 25 foot high onto a concrete floor on the show’s Georgia set.
Bernecker was immediately transferred to Atlanta Medical Center after the fall. The center is a level 1 trauma center.
Firstly, at the time his girlfriend posted begging for prayers from fans. Apparently, there was nothing that the doctors could do to save him.
“John deserves to be seen by every neorusurgeon and doctor there is until one of them sees the life we all know he has in him and bring him back to us… THIS ISNT FAIR.”
A spokesperson for SAG-AFTRA, which represents stunt performers and coordinator released a statement yesterday. The accident is still under investigation. It was confirmed that it happened on the set of The Walking Dead.
The Medical Examiner shared that the 33-year-old died in the hospital on Thursday evening. He was surrounded by friends and family at the time of his death.
His girlfriend who is a stuntwoman on the show was also there when his ventilator was turned off. According to a source, his brain swelling had went down some on Thursday but started swelling again. Therefore, causing his death.
Although, John had been on a ventilator since Wednesday that’s when the Medical Examiner stated his death. July 12 is a day that many will never forget. The cause of death is ruled as accidental blunt force trauma.
The accident occurred at Raleigh Studio in Georgia and AMC shut down production shortly after the fall.
