Carrie Underwood and American Idol share announcement that we have all been waiting for, I had a feeling this was going to happen!
When American Idol announced their big return a couple of weeks ago we were all surprised that it was combined back so soon. I personally didn’t think that it was ever going to hit the small screen again after it’s huge farewell, but apparently I was way wrong.
Although the return is coming as a shock to many, it didn’t show former Idol and country star Carrie Underwood at all. When the show said it’s farewell a few months ago, Underwood said that she wouldn’t be surprised if the show returned.
Somehow she knew that the show was going to be bigger and better than ever, and that’s exactly what they are planning on doing.
“I really wouldn’t be surprised if a few years down the road … it comes back,” Underwood said to him. “I hope they figure out some way … we see it come back bigger and better than ever. You never know.”
Now that the show is returning and Underwood isn’t on tour at the moment, reports say that she has “held talks” with ABC to fill a spot on the judges panel. According to Variety, Underwood and other possible judges include Adam Lambert, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Chris Daughtry, and Katy Perry.
Of course, Underwood is one of the most successful artists to come from Idol so it would be incredibly special for her to fill a spot as a judge, but there is a lot more than excitement that has to go into play. The show returned on specific terms that they weren’t going to spend millions and millions of dollars to pay the judges anymore and that is one of the reason some of the artists have already turned down the position.
CMT’s Cody Alan reported that ABC is “holding a presentation to advertisers on May 16th and they are expected to reveal more details about the show – including possible hosts and judges.” We can’t wait to see the future of Idol!
Do you think Carrie Underwood would be a great judge?!
