Chip and Joanna Gaines just received terrible news. I can’t believe that someone would do this!
Fixer Upper’s Chip and Joanna Gaines have been inspiring people for years now. Their HGTV show is about them renovating homes down in Waco, TX and is a fan favorite.
Unfortunately, the couple is now receiving a lot of backlash after a drunk driver crashed into one of their homes. Kelly Downs and her husband Ken moved into one of Chip and Jo’s houses and blame the couple for the crash.
Kelly recently spoke with Waco Tribune saying that their neighborhood is full of crime. She proceeded to bash Chip and Joanna Gaines saying that they deceived her to move into the home.
The Downs’ believe that they were enticed into moving to Waco because of the opportunity to live in a home designed by the Gaineses. It has been a year and a half since the couple moved into the home and they consider it a “fixer upper gone bad.”
“This is a Fixer Upper gone bad,” she said, adding, “It’s like the Wild West here. We feel deceived by the city of Waco and [Chip and Joanna Gaines’ firm] Magnolia Realty.”
Since Fixer Upper aired in 2013 Waco has seen a huge rise in tourism. Unfortunately, not everyone in the town is happy about it.
All of the tourism has caused the taxes to go up in Waco, and rightfully so. Kelly continued to say that she isn’t happy about the Gains family talking them into moving or the taxes rising.
“People have complained about their taxes going up because we moved here,” Kelly Downs told the Tribune. “Store owners have complained about taxes.”
She didn’t seem too upset about moving into her brand new home designed by Joanna in the beginning. Could this attack ruin Chip and Jo forever?
