After months of rumors, Chip and Joanna Gaines just confirmed the true reason for ending Fixer Upper.
Chip and Joanna Gaines are one of TV’s favorite couples, especially in the HGTV world. When the two of them started Fixer Upper they had no idea that it was only going to be the platform for them to launch their biggest dreams out of.
After the couple announced that they were cancelling the show, many reports stated that the Gaineses were having marital problems. Some even went as far as to say that they quit because they weren’t being offered enough money.
Thankfully, the couple has set the record straight after a recent interview with PEOPLE Magazine. They shared that they really just want a break from all of the attention.
They are still loving all the things they are doing, they just want time to breath for just a little while.
“We gave everything we had to this show, the beautiful homes and those sweet families. But this just felt like the right time to catch our breath for a bit.” Joanna said in the publication.
The success of Fixer Upper has helped them launch Magnolia business, a real estate company, the Silos, which is a retail space that sees up to 40,000 visitors per week. They have also written a couple of best-selling books.
On top of all of that they just announced their new line at Target, as well as an upcoming restaurant. Needless to say, they have their hands full even without the tv show.
Apparently they were filming 11 months out of the year.
“Nobody told us that that was unique,” Chip said of the grueling schedule. “Nobody told us that that was a little bit irrational.“
The couple has four children ages 7-12. Chip and Joanna reveal their kids would often ask them, “Mom and Dad, do you guys have to film again today? When is this going to be over?” That’s when they knew that they were working too much.
Now, they want to take time for their family while working on other projects.
“We really want to focus on this break and take a step back to let this all soak in,” Joanna says. “Regardless of what the future holds, we are hopeful for what God has for us and our family in this next season.”
Proud of these two! They are really good role models to everyone!!
