Brantley Gilbert is a proud American country boy and a proud Wounded Warrior supporter.
Even though Gilbert carries a HUGE platform, he doesn’t always get to meet the people that his music has changed forever. Part of the Wounded Warrior Project is the “Rolling Odyssey” which is a therapeutic ride for combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorders which allowed this man in the red shirt to meet the country star Brantley Gilbert.
Little did Gilbert know this would be the meeting that changed his life forever.
“I don’t know how to put this into words…I’m not really an emotional guy. I really have not been out of the house for over two years with my PTSD except for the occasional trip to the grocery store. What you are doing for us? You have no idea what that’s doing for us soldiers. I don’t know any other way to thank you. I can’t give you a Grammy or a country music award. I could thank you a million times, but for me, I have a gift for you.”
The man nervously reached into his pocket and pulled out his first purple heart.
“My blood, sweat and tears are on this. I’d like to give you my first purple heart.”
Watch Brantley’s reaction below, I can’t stop crying.
THIS IS WHAT COUNTRY IS ALL ABOUT! Thank you to Gilbert and country music for supporting our troops!
