Every Facebook user needs to read this ASAP, your profile could be in danger!
A couple of years ago we heard about the LinkedIn huge breach that took place, and hackers had over 100 MILLION usernames and passwords up for sale. The passwords were stored by using unsalted SHA-1 hashes. (Whatever that means)
Basically, LinkedIn didn’t actually keep all of the passwords, they just didn’t protect it against breach. Well now it’s happening again on other social media sites!
I know, I know…no one wants to hear that they are in danger of being hacked, but it’s true! The breach happened again claiming over 427 MILLION passwords. OUCH.
Apparently it was because of the same unsalted SHA-1 hashes.
“According to Leaked Source, lots of passwords have already been cracked, with the top 50 choices so far accounting for more than 6 million passwords, or 1.5% of the total.”
The important part is you can help PREVENT your password from being hacked!
HERE’S HOW TO DO IT:
If your password to Facebook is one of the top four passwords…you need to change it.
I know you’re wondering – “How do I create a strong password?”
IT’S SO EASY:
– Use 14 characters (OR MORE).
– Make those characters a variety
– Use many letters on the keyboard (not just the ones used most)
Don’t let yourself be a VICTIM! Change your p-words right now, people!
