NASCAR and Daytona are being sued and fans everywhere are mind-blown. I can’t believe it!
It was recently reported that two fans have launched lawsuits against both NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway. This is all in an attempt to seeking reparations for injuries.
Both fans claim that the injuries were sustained during a horrifying 2015 crash that centered around driver Austin Dillon. It was during the NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero 400 at Daytona that it happened.
You may remember that a wave of cars got tangled up in a terrifying crash. That’s when we all saw Dillon’s car fly into the catch-fence at insane speeds. Hitting a couple of fans.
Everyone was shocked that Austin was even still alive! Once the crash happened no one was sure what fate would be. Jimmie Johnson at the time even said that he was expecting the worst of the worst.
“I’m shocked that Austin Dillon is even alive from what he went through,” said Jimmie Johnson, who finished second to Dale Earnhardt Jr. “It was just a frightening moment. I saw it in the mirror and, man, I expected the worst when I came back around.”
ESPN named the two men as John and Wayne Vanpatten. They have each filed separate lawsuits against both NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway.
They are claiming that they were seated in an area where debris struck them and a “toxic fluid” was sprayed onto Wayne’s arm and unintentionally ingested by John.
Now, the court documents state that they are still working to recover from the injuries. Another suit was also filed in 2016.
No one is sure what the fate of all of this is going to be. You can watch Austin relive the crash in the video below talking to FOX sports. I can’t imagine how terrifying this must’ve been.
This is insane!
