Tony Stewart and the Ward Family have been at odds for years, now.
Everyone knows the infamous story- During a dirt track race, Tony Stewart accidentally hit fellow driver, Kevin Ward Jr., after Ward exited his car in the middle of the track. Ward later died from his injuries.
Obviously Tony Stewart from the start has declared that he hit Kevin on accident, and that he didn’t have time to move out of the way once Ward was in his sight.
And of course, Kevin’s parents insist that Smoke hit him on purpose, even swerving out of his way in order to hit Ward. And that brings us to where we are today, three years later.
Throughout the years there has been multiple hearings, but no conclusion. Just recently there was a mediation held between the two parties that lasted 8 HOURS. Over the course of that 8 hours, no conclusion was met.
Luckily, Smoke and the Ward family are finally hearing what they want to hear. A summary judgment hearing scheduled for Friday has officially been cancelled due to U.S. District Court judge David Hurd telling attorneys that he will rule solely from the briefs submitted.
That means Attorneys will meet Friday afternoon with a magistrate judge to discuss any settlement talks and options. There is a light at the end of this tunnel!
Friday could be the day that puts an end to all of this madness. Both parties arguments will be put to rest after all these years.
I know the NASCAR community is looking forward to this.
