Not much went right in 2016 for Carolina, but it’s starting to look up.
All season long, injuries, bad decisions, tough calls by the referees and bad special teams led to a 6-10 record. But a vital free agent just made a huge announcement that already bodes well for next season.
Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kawann Short has stated he wants to stay a member of the Carolina Panthers in 2017 whether he gets a long term deal or stuck with the franchise tag. Unlike Josh Norman, Short has shown some loyalty and devotion to the Panthers’ franchise.

When asked about the free agent situation, Short said “Me and Josh are two different people,” as players cleaned out their lockers after a 6-10 season. “We walk two totally different sides of the street, at two totally different places, in two totally different directions. Me and Josh are not the same.” This has to be music to the ears of Panthers fans as losing Norman was one of the keys to this season’s let down. Having Short leading the defense will help bolster them for the season ahead.
Are you excited about Short’s announcement, or are there too many other pieces to put together to feel optimistic just yet?
