Cam Newton is known for being brash, but this is crazy.
The 2015 NFL MVP and Super Bowl caliber quarterback is known for making bold statements on and off the field. He has come under fire for letting his feelings be known, and this latest feeling is bold.
Newton claims that the decision to play through an injury was the result of his leadership position. “Was it smart?” he said to the team website. “People may say it wasn’t, but at the end of the day, I think the bigger picture was I’m one of the leaders on this team.”

Newton claimed he wanted to set a good example for the rest of the club. However, he played multiple games with a partially torn rotator cuff even though the team was eliminated from the playoff contention by that point. He was hailed by some for his gritty play, and criticized by others for risking further injury without anything to play for. He had surgery and is on schedule to be ready for the start of the season. “I’m getting the mojo back,” Newton said.
Was it a wise decision for Newton to play through a major injury to his throwing shoulder, or was it a dumb move to jeopardize his career over a few pointless games?
