Charles Haley knows what it takes to be a Championship football team.
During his time in the NFL, Haley was considered one of the best to play his position. What he brought to a team was not measurable. He brought a mixture of skill, talent, strength, leadership, and that very important Championship swag.
What does the former Cowboys great think of this current football team?
Haley doesn’t believe this Cowboys team has a winning attitude. They don’t understand what it takes to be a winner in this league. It’s like they believe they were guaranteed to have the same success this past year as they did in 2016 (via Pro Football Talk).
“I don’t think they understand what it takes to win a game,” Haley said, via the Dallas Morning News. “If you want to look back, if that was Coach [Jimmy] Johnson, we would’ve worked harder than we did last year just to repeat that part of it. I don’t see that maturity where guys are doing their own thing out there. When the coach says run 10, you run 15, or you grab your teammates and go run. They took 13-3 for granted and they thought, ‘OK, we’ll win the Super Bowl the next year.’”
Charles believes this is a team effort. You win as a team; therefore, you lose as one too. It’s a team effort and the entire team must believe in what you are doing. No one player is bigger than the other, it’s time to check the egos at the door.
“I blame everybody. It’s one team and everybody’s together. And that’s the key. I go over there and I tell guys, ‘Man, Jerry built this house for a bunch of damn losers.’ And they get mad. They have to do something about it. I can’t do anything about it, I can’t play. All I can do is give you some knowledge.
“And then the egos are so big and they’re so busy getting on Twitter and Facebook and everything else – maybe they should get in that playbook. Maybe they should learn how to rush, catch and block.”
If Haley gets the opportunity to talk to this team, he would make it simple!
Nobody in this league fears you. You aren’t currently the big bad football team that some say you are.
“I tell those guys nobody’s scared of them. Ain’t nobody in the league scared of y’all. What y’all been doing is listening to people saying you’ve got the best offensive line in the business. I said who’s scared of y’all? Huh? Those little things like that, those intangibles, the attitude you take to the field [matters]. . . . I go over there and I watch guys work. I watch them go through drills. They go through three or four drills and they’re gassed.”

If that is any of us telling this current team this, they would shake it off and go about their day. However, coming from a player like Haley, a multiple Super Bowl winner and Hall-of-Famer, they must listen. Someone on this team needs to step up and change the attitude in this locker room. That includes the way they are off the field as well. To be successful, you need all hands-on deck. You can’t afford to lose players for these recent off-field issues.
Do you agree with what Haley is saying about this team?
