The Dallas Cowboys made some roster moves following the rookie minicamp and during the next phase of OTA’s.
Dallas has decided to waive a trio of players on Tuesday, while signing a pair of players to the team.
Per Jon Machota via twitter, the Cowboys waived center Michael Coe, linebacker Jeremiah George, tackle Levon Myers. The team also signed defensive end Darnell Leslie and tight end MJ McFarland.
Leslie comes in to try and make the team at a position that seems to be pretty deep heading into the 2017 season. With Tyrone Crawford, David Irving, DeMarcus Lawrence, Benson Mayowa, and rookie Taco Charlton, the idea of Leslie making this roster seems to be a long shot. The former Monmouth player hopes to beat the odds and earn a spot come training camp.

The other roster move made was UTEP tight end McFarland. He will come in and also have an uphill battle to make the roster. With Jason Witten the clear cut #1 option, McFarland will battel the likes of James Hanna, Geoff Swaim, and Rico Gathers for two of the three possible tight end spots behind the Cowboys veteran. With Gathers upside and his athletic ability, you would have to assume that he will have one of the spots locked up behind Witten.
Do you think either player has a shot at making the Cowboys roster or practice squad? Or is this simply just a move to bring a body or two in while waiving a trio that hadn’t done enough to draw the coaches attention?
