The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a 13-win football season in 2016.

With the Cowboys returning most of their key players on offense, Vegas seems to feel the team will have a little bit of regression in 2017.  Dallas is returning Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten.  That alone should be good for ten wins, especially since they had 13 just a year ago with the same core on offense.  Throw in the fact that they have three returning All-Pro offensive linemen in Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, and Tyron Smith, that should be good for at least another victory in the team’s win column.

Per fansided.com, Westgate’s head football oddsmaker Ed Salmons told ESPN that the biggest reason he has the team win total down from a year ago is because of their schedule alone.

“The Dallas Cowboys went from playing a last-place schedule to this year playing the first-place schedule.  They’re due for regression.  It’s just the natural ebbs and flows of the NFL.”

Yes, a first-place schedule might be a more difficult one on paper, but the leaders this football team has, along with the talent they have on the field should be good enough for at least 10 wins, if not more.  The offense is the strength of this team and for the most part, they are bringing back the same group of guys, including all of their main stars.

On defense, they needed to have a reworked unit as they got beat in the passing game most of the year, but had a solid rush defense.  With an offense like the Cowboys have, the defense is going to be better, just by not being on the field as much as some of the other defenses.

Just like last season, the Cowboys offense is a ball controlling group.  Led by Elliott and his offensive line, there is no need to think that they can’t have success with the same formula that they had in 2016 again in the upcoming football year.  Add the fact that Prescott and Bryant will have a better chemistry, and it just seems to be a no brainer that this team will hit the over on the win total that the Vegas oddsmakers have for this football team.
