The Dallas Cowboys lock up one of the overlooked positions for the next four years.
Cowboys extend a key piece of this football team for the next four years!
According to David Moore via twitter, the Cowboys have signed punter Chris Jones to an extension.
The deal is for four years, therefore, making sure Jones is in Dallas thru 2021.
With one year remaining on the current contract, Jones was looked at as a player the team needed to find a way to sign. He had his best year as a pro in 2016 with the Cowboys as he averaged a career high 45.9 average on punts. This included a massive 66-yarder that pinned the Philadelphia Eagles on their own 1-yard line.
The Cowboys witnessed their punter make a play on special teams, a play that some punters won’t do!
Punter Chris Jones has agreed to a 4-yr extension w/ Cowboys. RT La'el Collins signed 2-yr extension earlier in camp. Up next: Zack Martin

Punting the ball isn’t the only thing in this punter’s wheel house. Jones laid a massive hit on a Detroit Lions punt returner late last year.
THE PUNTISHER is back!

Jones is a weapon for this team as he can pin opponents deep in their own territory. This is big for a young defense looking to improve on a few stats from a year ago. He is also a great contribute to the ground game the Cowboys possess in Dallas. As the Cowboys pound the clock, a punter like Jones can make the field much longer for opponents.
Now it’s time to work on that Zack Martin deal!
