Current Mock Would Be A Perfect Fit For The Cowboys In 2017

In just under a week, the mock drafts will be over and we can finally see who will be part of this football team, instead of guessing and hoping.

Until the draft begins next Thursday, we will continue to hear rumors of who the Dallas Cowboys will bring in for a workout or who the team will take with one of their picks in the seven rounds of picks.  However, the recent mock that I ran across really has me intrigued and hoping that it comes true.

Per scout.com, they have the Cowboys taking six defensive players and a center to help with depth on the offensive line.

The Cowboys are projected to take at least one edge rusher, cornerback, and safety, if not a couple of one or two of the positions.  The first pick they have the Cowboys taking is a steal if it happens, they slot Tennessee edge rusher Derek Barnett at the 28th spot.  If that does indeed happen, the Cowboys and their fans should be pleased to have him on the team.  He is projected as a top 20 talent, which means he could indeed fall to the Cowboys if things go their way.

To go along with Barnett, they have the Cowboys taking a pair of cornerbacks and safety’s.  That would mean that the Cowboys are truly dedicated to rebuilding this secondary during this draft.  They have the Cowboys taking Florida CB Teez Tabor in the 2nd, Utah S Marcus Williams in the 3rd, Louisville S Josh Harvey-Clemons in the 6th, and Houston CB Brandon Wilson in the 7th.  Yu would have to hope at least a couple of those secondary players turn into NFL talent.

Rounding out the mock draft, scout.com has the Cowboys taking LSU C Ethan Pocic in the 4th and Colorado DL Josh Tupuo with their final pick in the 7th.  That gives the Cowboys seven picks this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them trade out of one of the rounds to gain an extra pick or two to help this defense.

Do you bleed football and love all the mock drafts, or are you counting the days down to rid all these mocks out of your feed?
