Former Cowboy Calls Out Elliott ON Recent Off-Field Issues

It might be time to listen to former athletes that have been in the shoes that the NFL leading rusher has been in.

When it comes to telling a player in any professional sport what to do, you don’t really know where and what they have gone through to get to the spot they are, unless you were in the shoes of that player at some point.  Whether it was playing in college or in the pro game, some players can speak out and talk about what Ezekiel Elliott needs to do to keep the drama out of his life.

It’s not about being a professional athlete and having to stay in a bubble, or stay home for most of your time in the NFL, only leaving to go to practice and to games.  It’s more about having the mindset to know that not everyone in this world have your best interest at hand.  There are plenty of people that are looking for a pay day and a player like Elliott might look like a walking bank if they can get him in the wrong situation.

It turns out that not only players that went to his college (Ohio State) are willing to give advice and talk about Elliott’s off field issues.  Former players of the Dallas Cowboys are doing the same after this week’s pair of “not thought thru” off field situations that the former Ohio State and current Cowboys running back saw himself involved in.

Per Pro Football Talk, earlier this past week, former Ohio State linebacker and NFL player Chris Spielman had a little to say about how the Cowboys running back needs to grow up.

“He is bringing this upon himself. Nobody is bringing this upon him. And he’s not young. He is of the age where he knows right from wrong, so let’s stop with the young card, I can’t stand it. There are no more young cards,” Spielman said. “It’s never OK to pull somebody’s shirt down. That’s insane to even justify that behavior. It’s crazy.”

Spielman’s comments were brought up after the star running back was seen pulling a woman’s shirt down, exposing her breast to the crowd at a St Patrick’s Day Party.  He then had another issue come up as he was on stage with a rapper that was earlier accused of being involved in a fight at an airport.  Elliott was involved in the airport fight, but it’s just about being careful with who you surround yourself with.

Now we hear about a former Cowboys player, Marcus Spears coming out and talking about how the young back needs to “stop being dumb”.

“The guy’s just gotta stop being dumb, man,” former Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears said recently on 103.3 FM in Dallas, via the Dallas Morning News. “That’s really what it boils down to. And I’m not going to speak on it like I know all of the particulars but I saw it and I don’t understand it. I was talking to my wife last night about it. With all of the social media, all of the media coverage that we give because we have to and we have to talk about these things, you would think that these guys would have in their minds and they would understand that I have things that I can’t do. And not as a football player but just as a human. At the end of the day, the eye of the world is on Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott because of the success that they had. They not only have the eye of the world but they play for the Dallas Cowboys, who are always in the eye of public.”

Elliott needs to realize that he has plenty to lose and just cannot put himself in situations like these.  As a professional athlete, Elliott is viewed differently by some people in this world and it’s sad that we have to say that, but there are people in this world who are looking for a quick pay check and they might view Elliott as just that.  Not everyone is looking out for his best interests and are hoping to catch him in a bad or wrong situation.

With social media now days, you MUST think about what you are doing and be even more cautious about what you do in public!
