Jerry Jones May Not Make As Many Moves In Coaching Staff As We Think Or Hope

Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones likes what he has in his coaching staff on both sides of the ball.

If the fans were the ones making all the roster moves, Jerry Jones would be gone with the entire coaching staff in Dallas.  That isn’t the case and it appears that Jones will be keeping the main players on this coaching staff intact.

It seems easy to see the struggles by the coaching staff, except with the owner of the team!

Jones went on 105.3 The Fan to make it clear on his head coach returning in 2018 (via Todd Archer).

“It’s not even a thought for me.  I like the fact that we’ve investigated several years of Jason evolving in this profession.”

Jones also said he wants both his coordinators back for the 2018 season.  When asked if he wanted to see Rod Marinelli and Scott Linehan back in 2018, Jones said yes.

The biggest thing that I saw this season was the lack of in-game adjustments on both sides of the ball.  It was a glaring problem during Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension.

From the outside, it seemed that opposing coaching staffs did what they needed to coming out of halftime during those six games.  It seemed that Garrett and his coaching staff didn’t put the effort in.

It didn’t end when Elliott returned, it seemed that Linehan tried to be too cute.  In a must win game, Dallas failed to give the ball to their best player inside the 5-yard line.  Not giving Elliott the ball at that crucial part of the game falls directly on Linehan and Garrett.  Don’t get too cute, especially at that point of your season.

It appears that the only coaches to get their walking papers will be those under the the head coach and his two coordinators.  The first one looks to be wide receivers coach Derek Dooley.

Do you agree with Jones and his willingness to keep Garrett, Linehan, and Marinelli?  If not, who deserves to be sent packing?
