The New York Jets appear ready and willing to walk away from Muhammad Wilkerson.

When it comes to the off-season, you can’t have one without talk of the Jets talented defensive end.  Wilkerson has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys for many years, but all have come to no end and he has remained in New York.

That new home might be coming in 2018!

According to Blogging the Boys, the Jets appear to be willing to finally cut ties with their talented defensive lineman.  Rumors have it that the Jets will likely release him this off-season.

Wilkerson has played defensive end in the Jets 3-4 defensive scheme.  However, he would be a perfect fit for the Cowboys 4-3 defensive scheme.

The Cowboys have been linked to a defensive tackle thru this April’s draft.  Of course, that is all thru mock drafts and they will change hundreds of times as we get closer to the actual draft.  If Dallas goes after Wilkerson, that draft need will fall down the list for this team.  The bigger needs for the Cowboys appear to be linebacker and wide receiver, this would allow the team to go that route if Wilkerson is in house come April.

Wilkerson would help another player become even more dominating!

If the Cowboys can bring Mohammad, it would allow the team to move David Irving to defensive end full time.  Irving has been playing inside at tackle due to the lack of pass rush at the position.  With Wilkerson next to Maliek Collins, Dallas can have one of the best defensive lines in the league as they put Irving and DeMarcus Lawrence on the bookends of that line.

This isn’t just rumors when it comes to the addition of Wilkerson.  Back in 2016, the Jets reportedly called Dallas to see if the teams could agree on a trade for the big defensive lineman.  That trade never happened, but it hasn’t left in the eyes of Dallas.  Many links of the two have been brought up in years past, and this might be the year it officially happens.

The biggest question that comes up is why would New York just release a one-time dominate force on that D-Line?

According to reports, the Jets are not happy with the attitude of Wilkerson.  He has been tardy to team meetings, while seeing his play dip by taking plays off.  That might have something to do with his team looking to trade him.  That would make anyone feel unwanted, add the fact the Jets are not a good team.  That’s a recipe for someone to not go all out for 60 minutes a game.

Change of scenery might be the answer to seeing Wilkerson getting back to his old self!
