The Dallas Cowboys will delay the much-anticipated debut of Rico Gathers.
Early this preseason, the idea of Rico Gathers having an impact for this football team was a possibility. However, he would suffer a concussion during training camp that would keep him out up to this date.
It looks like 2018 will be the regular season debut of Rico Gathers!
It appears that the Cowboys will not rush their young and talented tight end and will wait until next season to put him on the field. From what Stephen Jones said on 105.3FM the Fan, Gathers will be sitting out the rest of the season as well (via 247 Sports).
“Probably the best thing for him is to start fresh in the offseason,” said Jones.
It really doesn’t come to any surprise that this is what the Cowboys will be doing. With Jason Witten still doing his thing on offense, and already in week 14, it just doesn’t make sense. Why waste a few games that might not be worth it for someone that seemed to have a pretty bad concussion from what everyone around has said.
Missed this earlier today, but Stephen Jones told the guys on @1053thefan that it’s unlikely you’re going to see Rico Gathers during this final month of the season #cowboyswire pic.twitter.com/xQJ7UqzKbv

With the production that he delivered in the first two preseason games, Cowboys fans will have a lot to look forward to next off-season. Gathers seemed to be a matchup nightmare for teams in those two games. With the additional work he will get in the many camps, he will only get better.
Gathers has the frame of a comic book superhero at 6-foot-8 and 284 lbs. The good thing for the Cowboys is that this superhero is on our side and he will be destroying opposing defenses very soon.
What name should we give our superhero TE?
