The Green Bay Packers continue to make moves on the defensive line in order to help bolster the interior of that line.
The defense was the biggest hole to fix on this Packers football team and it appears the Packers will be doing it by signing the under the radar and smaller names for the upcoming season. On Monday afternoon, the Packers made another move to improve their defense by claiming a former rival to help on their interior defensive line.
Per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter via twitter, the Packers signed defensive tackle Ego Ferguson.
“Packers have claimed former Bears’ DT Ego Ferguson off waivers, per @FieldYates.”

Ferguson who was a second-round selection (51st overall) by the Chicago Bears didn’t see the field at all in 2016 and played just four games the year before in 2015. As a rookie, Ferguson was able to play in all 16 games and showed progress and upside of what he can do in the middle of the Bears defensive line. He had 24 tackles and two sacks during his rookie season, while registering 27 tackles in the 20 career football games by the young man out of LSU.
This might go under the radar, but if Ferguson can get healthy and on the field, this could be a good move by this Packers team. He is entering a contract year as he is playing on the final year of his first contract, a four-year deal he signed as a rookie in 2014.
Green Bay must see something in the big DT, they didn’t waste much time following the Bears cutting him on Friday!
