If he is healthy, he is amazing. But…he is not always healthy.
Amongst the many significant injuries Green Bay suffered last season, one was to their marquee linebacker. He missed quite a few games, but was a huge presence when he was healthy.
Clay Matthews it seems is “out of the woods” with his shoulder injury and should be ready to go when the season starts in 2017. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said “Last time we talked, [team physician Dr.] Pat McKenzie thought he was out of the woods and wasn’t going to need surgery.”
Also … Clay Matthews did not need shoulder surgery, ‘out of the woods’ with his injury. https://t.co/hPPHy5odrn

Last season Matthews missed four games, but the injury affects were felt all season long. He had his lowest sack count in his career, the lowest tackle total of his career and had zero interceptions. Having a healthy Clay Matthews to go along with a healthier overall defense could make Green Bay a Super Bowl favorite going into the season. Matthews is an injury prone player, playing all sixteen games in only 3 of his 8 seasons, but he is a game changer when he is on the field.
Are you the type of Green Bay fan who is over Matthews, or do you see him as key to the team’s success?
