Last year’s 6-10 record is already ancient history, but what about this coming year?

Injuries, the loss of a major free agent and some disappointing play turned a 15-1 team into a 6-10 team. However, with some key free agent pickups, a better schedule and a hopefully great draft, ESPN has high hopes for Carolina.

The Panthers are predicted to go 10-6 according to ESPN. That would put them squarely into the playoffs, although not a top seed. The Mother Ship predicted the team would get off to a fast 3-0 start with games against the 49ers, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints to start the season off.

Overall the schedule has some very difficult moments, but begins and ends easy. Three easier opponents start the year, then three of their last four games are at home. They’ve also got a Week 11 bye, which will help the veterans rest later in the season. But they’ve also got tough back to back games at New England and at Detroit (weeks 4 and 5) and then hosting Atlanta and hosting the Dolphins (Weeks 9 and 10).

Are you excited about the Panther’s playoff chances, or is it way too early to tell?
